This week I have seen, read, and heard about so many instances that have left me with this sad feeling. Stories of parents teaching their children that cops cannot be trusted. That there is only justice for people who have the right skin color. That the only good cop is a dead cop. Do you think those children are going to grow up respecting the law? NO, they won't. Or are they going to grow up with a "poor me, everything is unfair for me" mentality? Yes, yes they will. Or are they going to be one of those idiots that record the officer every time they get pulled over: "Oh look this pig officer pulled me over because I am (insert minority)!" No, you got pulled over for going 85 mph in a construction zone. (Seriously, I am not making this one up. Trust me there are a lot of videos out there that fit this theme.)
I have seen Facebook pages/comments where people (a lot of people) are actually suggesting following home officers. So they can hurt their families. Really?! I wonder what kind of things they were taught by their parents. Cops cannot be trusted...there is only justice for people who have the right skin color... the only good cop is a dead cop... Do they really think the officers would leave their families unprotected? Hint: they wouldn't.
I have seen police officers being attacked by mobs of people, while they stand there and take it. I watched a video of "protesters" harassing a African American officer. Saying such horrible things, that I find it absolutely amazing that he didn't lose it. Saying he was a disgrace, that his children hated him, and that he was not a man, all the while "F*** YOU" was being yelled at him. I really "enjoyed" the part where one of the protester tried to tell him they were doing it for the safety of his son, so he won't end up shot by the cops. I am, again, amazed that he didn't turn to her and say, "I don't have to worry about my son being shot by the cops because he will be a law abiding citizen" or "he is more likely to be shot by thugs". Instead he calmly kept walking.
I have read articles about all the "injustice killings of black men" in the last year. I obviously support law enforcement, but I was interested in these stories. So I looked into them a little more. All were very clear that the officers were white. All skimming over why the cops were with the "victims" in the first place. (HINT: Criminal behavior is a great way to get the attention of cops.) There was only one, were the victim was obviously innocent, and the police department took the blame and the officer was punished (again those facts were over looked). It really wasn't very hard to look into these cases a little more to see the actual facts. After a little bit of research, the question should be "why are these men fighting with the cops?" not "why did the cops shoot these black men?". Apparently FACTS or EVIDENCE doesn't really mean anything to people today. Much easier to cry out for justice and to ignore the fact that justice was served. It is also easier to skim the headlines and jump on the band wagon. Sorry, but just because you don't like the outcome does not mean justice was not served.
Another thing, how is it not racist to state that the "victim" was black and the officer was white? Shouldn't it just be "Officer shoots an unarmed man"? And why is there not any protesting for the "white victims"? Believe it or not, those are more common. What about the white kid that was shot and killed by a white officer? (***Again toy gun with orange tip off, waving and pointing at people. Where were the parents? AND WHY DO THEY EVEN MAKE TOY GUNS THAT LOOK REAL?***) That story made the news for 10 seconds. There were no protests. No riots. No big wig "reverend" showing up to hold marches and look for "justice". If the people who are protesting REALLY wanted to see change, to see all races being treated equally, they would be looking for "justice" in ALL the officer involved shootings regardless of race. BUT they don't, they only care when the "victim" is African American. (ie #blacklivesmatter) So I guess they are saying that one race is more important or better than another, which is the very definition of racism.
I am so over this BULL POO POO. When I see the protesters on the news, my only thoughts are "what a waste of time/ tax payer money", "stupid people", and more recently "thanks for all the overtime & paying for our family trip to DISNEYLAND!!!!". (Hence the picture above. Just trying to find something to laugh at.) I guess those are not the only thoughts, they are just the main ones. Hate to break it you, these protest are not really going to change anything. Most police officers are not racist, and do treat everyone the same. If you look and act like a threat, they will treat you like a threat. For example, if you are riding a motorcycle, covered in tattoos, probably wouldn't be a problem. However, if you are also wearing a well known biker gang vest...probably going to be viewed as a threat. If you are walking down the street wearing a base ball cap, jeans and a tee-shirt, probably wouldn't be a problem. However, if you are walking like a pimp down the street dressed like a thug; wearing a red base ball cap, a red tee shirt 3 sizes too big, and jeans 3 sizes too big that you have to hold up because they are under your butt, then yeah, you might be viewed as a threat. At first...but then if you are polite and compliant there shouldn't be an issue. The issues come when you run, resist arrest, fight, or try to hurt the officer. Those are the things that make you look like a criminal. Which would be actually what you are if you do those things. So cops being racist will not/ should not change if they are already not racist. Again most are not, if they are, yeah they should find another job.
Another reason the protests won't change anything is because police are trained the way they are for a reason. So far this year over a hundred officers were killed in the line of duty. A large number where murdered. The sheep (that's most of us non cops citizens) of world have no idea the dangers, wolves, that are out there. And they are happy with not knowing. Police officers, sheep dogs, know and are standing in between us and the wolves. I have heard (please read in a whining voice, makes it better) "why do they have to shoot to kill? Why can't they shoot them in the leg or arm?". Well DUH, because they can still fight back! The whole point is to put an end to the threat as quickly as possible and walk away alive. Pretty sure that's the goal of the bad guy too. If they have a gun, they can still shoot it with only one hand. So shooting them in the leg won't do anything! Even if they don't have a gun, being shot in the leg or arm might not stop them. Your body has natural defenses against pain, and if their adrenaline is pumping they might not even feel it. Not to mention there are drugs that can make them like superman. A crazy scary superman that just does not stop. My other favorite (again with the whining voice) "why do we militarize the police force? Is it really necessary?". Why?! Because they are our local first defense. On 9-11 it wasn't the military that showed up first and ran into the twin towers (along with the FDNY) to pull people out to safety. No, it was the police. When there is a school shooting, it isn't the military that shows up first and goes into the line of fire. Is it necessary?! YES! The world is a BAD place full of BAD people that are willing to do what ever to get what they want. I don't know about you, but I kind of like knowing that there are people out there trained to take down the bad people.
I completely realize that those people who are anti- cop, who are protesting, who are allowing racism to continue to thrive, or even really trying for change will never read these words. Even if they do it is very unlikely that they will agree with me, but I refuse to remain silent. Our law enforcement officers are heroes and deserve to have our support. They should know we have their backs. So thank you officers for doing the job!!!
